Weekend Workshops

Public Weekend Workshops, learn something new.

The Weekend Workshops Program has been created to provide our local audience with a variety of educational art based, hands on workshops ran by the Museums Artists in Residence. The Workshops are geared to teach all levels of experience from the complete novice to the pro, because everyone needs a place to keep their creative juices flowing. Remember all ages and experience levels are always welcome to register for any of our weekend workshops. But hurry booking is based on first come first serve and there are only a few openings for each workshop.

At the Sculpture Trail Head

New This Year

The Old Tobacco Barn, located at the beginning of the Sculpture Trails, will now house the “Sculpture Trails Store” and the Old Tobacco Barn “Secret Little Shoppe”. We will also be creating a “Pop-Up Art Gallery” which will be art display opportunities for our iron interns. The Old Tobacco Barn’s Secret Little Shoppe will be open on July 16th and July 30th.

WORKSHOPS in the Old Tobacco Barn!

  • Workshops include all supplies.
  • Workshops make a great day out or evening out with family or friends!
  • You do not need to be crafty to join in the fun! We will show you how!
  • Pre-registration is required (so we can gather supplies, plan and prepare food!)

This is an event the entire family can enjoy together and it is a great way to experience art! Come spend the afternoon with us at the Sculpture Trails! Create art and enjoy a walk on the Trails.

Scratch blocks are available for a $20 donation and artists are available to help you plus they will pour your mold right before your eyes!

July 30th — 7th Annual Fire @ Night

This is the last chance of the summer to make your very own cast iron relief sculpture! Make sure you arrive early so you have plenty of time to work on your scratch block masterpiece. Music to entertain you during the day will be provided by “Totally Tunes DJ”, plus food will be available. Hang out and talk to artists from all over the country as well as from the United Kingdom. Ask these cast iron masters for any helpful hints for your own work of art. They are very willing to help you create a masterpiece! Scratch blocks are available for $20 each.

The Foundry Crew will start pouring iron as the sun sets, this makes a spectacular viewing event! See the 3000˚ glowing molten iron poured into your scratch blocks right alongside the huge sand molds made by the Cast Iron Workshop participants who have been working hard on their molds all month. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
